Minutes from May meeting:
The minutes were approved as presented.
Dave NH6SM gave the Treasurer’s Report.
Dave WD5G reported the controller receiver has been tested and works so the phone line may be dropped.
He stated it’s unknown how far away the receiver can be accessed depending on how far away someone is from it, along
with power capability, and antenna being used. At the July meeting he would supply the access frequency to be kept in confidence
as well as the control codes. It will require some testing to see if it’s possible to post voice messages using this
system. This issue is now a closed item from the minutes.
Bill N5NUK gave the CORA report regarding Ham Holiday. Everything is on track for the event July 23/24.
Everyone ponied up their monthly dollar for the Food Pantry collection.
The Christmas Dinner issue was tabled until a later date.
Field Day is June 26/27. Due to surgery, the Field Day Coordinator will not be able to set up any activities for the
event, and members would be participating with other area clubs in their activities. OCAPA has invited CARC to join them,
and ACARC has also extended an invitation.
Ron W5RGT received an information update notice from the ORSI Frequency Coordinator requesting current repeater information.
Bill N5NUK would act on this issue. Ron also had the books on the radios and the controller to pass along. It was suggested
to keep them at the repeater site in a ziplock bag for quick and easy access if/when needed.
Richard W1WFE contacted the City Manager of Harrah regarding the CERT program. The City Manager is familiar with CERT
and is interested in starting a CERT chapter in Harrah. Harrah is getting a new Police Chief and the manager thought it best
to wait until he got the new chief on board. Don N5ENQ reported the MWC contact OCAPA is using for their Field Day location
is a CERT person, and he would try to have some CERT people visit the OCAPA Field Day in order to find out more about amateur
Bill N9SQV mentioned that former member O.J. Watkins, now a Silent Key, had some radio equipment that his wife wants
to sell. Bill, along with Walt, and Chuck would be organizing the list of items. Bill wants to sell it at Ham Holiday and
needs some assistance.
Next meeting would be July 19, 2010.
No other business was conducted and the meeting was adjourned.
