Choctaw Amateur Radio Club (CARC) Regular Monthly Meeting was held on February 19, 2001. At the Eastern Oklahoma County Vo-Tech. A quorum was met and business conducted as follows: The Choctaw Amateur Radio Club meeting was called to order by the Club President, Chuck Kanach, KC5EZS at 7 PM. Followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Members introduced themselves for the Roll Call. There were 14 members present. Reports: Secretary's report was accepted as published. Treasurer's report was accepted as given. YL report- No new members or xyl's checked in. The President reminded everyone to notify him or the secretary about any illness or death in the family so that the club can send a card. Old Business: 1.Don's KB5KWV electric bill, tabled. 2.Remote receiver and site- It was mentioned that we needed certain equipment, but tabled this item until the other tower is back up. 3.Saturday Coffee was attended by 14 people. The next second Saturday was voted on to be a luncheon. Several places were suggested and voted on. Chuck KC5EZS will see if Chequers is available, if not it will be held at the Inner Urban. The luncheon will be at 11:30 on March 10th. 4.Old Tower pieces- Has been sold and taken care of. 5.Swap Meet- The date for the next swap meeting was voted on and approved for May 12th. One suggestion to draw a larger crowd was to have a forum. 6.Antenna for Vo-Tech- The Vo-Tech has approved the addition of an antenna. The coax will run thru the vent, and we just need to supply the antenna, coax. Chuck KC5EZS, Dave WD5G, Bill N9SQV and Toby KC5DZJ will help on that. 7.Field Day- Don N5ENQ has reserved the site for Field Day. Chuck KC5EZS had a list of items that might be needed for Field Day, members were to look at the lists and let him know what the club members had. 8.Radio Classes- After much discussion, this item was tabled to be brought up at another time. New Business: CORA Meeting- February 27th- Chuck KC5EZS, Bill N9SQV, and Norm W5FLO will attend. VE Testing- With all the testing done on the opposite side of town it might be good to have a VE session in the Choctaw Area. We have three members who are VE's. But it involves a lot of time and effort, so to see if it would be used in the area, to ask Clarence to come over here with the Choctaw VE's helping him . Motion was made and seconded to ask Clarence to participate in the VE testing. Workday for the tower was brought up. Motion made and seconded that we allow a certain amount of money to be used from the club treasury for the rental of a trencher and other items needed. Ron WB9DAF will check on the trencher. He also has rebar. Chuck KC5EZS will send out an email for the workday. Program- GPS Foxhunt- Dave WD5G asked how many members present have a GPS. 6 held up their hands. He then asked who would drive. He paired up the members. Chuck KC5EZS with Toby KC5DZJ, Walt KA3AMK with Kay KB5VJR, O.J. WB5SRX with Ron WB9DAF, Bill N9SQV with Norm W5FLO, Don N5ENQ. This will take place on March 3, 2001 at 10:30. The coordinates will be broadcast over 147.09. Dave mentioned to the GPS people to get familiar with their program and check out the grid squares, and be able to find the latitude and longitude.
