Choctaw Amateur Radio Club (CARC) Regular Monthly Meeting was held on March 19, 2001. at the Eastern Oklahoma County Vo-Tech. A quorum was met and business conducted as follows: The Choctaw Amateur Radio Club meeting was called to order by the Club President, Chuck Kanach, KC5EZS at 7PM. Followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Members introduced themselves for the roll Call. There were 14 members and 1 guest present. Dave Downing, WD5G, introduced his guest Jim Grant, KD5MZW. Reports: Secretary's report was accepted as published. Treasurer's report was accepted as given. Yl report- No new members or xyl's checked in Presidents message- reminding everyone to invite people to the meetings, whether they are hams or even your next door neighbor. Old business: CARC luncheon - The luncheon on Saturday March 10 was attended by 20 members and spouses. Pictures were taken and put on Zing.com. The April coffee will be on April 14th at 9:45 am at Bruce's Truck Stop, Choctaw Road and I-40. Vo-Tech Antenna - Weather and an emergency out of state prevented this to be done. Action will be taken when all of the committee can get together. Field Day List - Pass the field day list back to Chuck KC5EZS or send him an email with the information. Tower Work Day - March 31 at 8:30 is the day to work on the holes for setting the tower. Bring gloves and be prepared to work. There will be a trencher rented for the weekend. In case of bad weather, the date will be moved to the next Saturday. GPS Hunt - Dave ,WD5G, gave a short report on the GPS hunt.. 11 members participated. VE Testing - Bill, N9SQV, reported on the VE testing and different licensing involved. Cost of the testing has gone to $10.00. He will check with the school and see if one of the Thursday evenings would be available for this. Hopefully toward the end of May. CORA meeting - The next CORA meeting will be held March 24th at Spencer's on NE 23rd. Chuck, KC5EZS, Bill, N9SQV, and Norm, W5FLO will attend the business meeting. Rt 66 - The dates for Rt. 66 will be September 8 - 16th, more information at a later date. New business: Field Day - T-shirts and pins. Chuck, KC5EZS, is taking orders for those shirts and pins. He will send out a URL so that members can look at the shirts and pins. Extra points will be given if someone from the Government is invited and attends the field day. Larry, K5VVD, is in charge of that. Field Day rules can be downloaded, Chuck, KC5EZS, will send out the URL. Volunteers needed for the Murrah Memorial Marathon run, April 29, 2001. The information is in the C&E for a contact if anyone is interested. Program: Dave, WD5G, talked about the GPS Hunt, the different things that happened along the way. How we all learned about the GPS's and some different things that can be done on the next one. Also mentioned was a way that the members at home could participate also. This would include the members who have GPS systems that need a computer to operate. July was mentioned for the next GPS hunt.. Because of the variety and ages of the GPS systems the members have, the latitude and longitude need to be written as degrees, minutes, and seconds.
