Choctaw Amateur Radio Club (CARC) Regular Monthly Meeting was held on May 21, 2001 at the Eastern Oklahoma County Vo-Tech. A quorum was met and business conducted as follows: The Choctaw Amateur Radio Club meeting was called to order by the Club President, Chuck Kanach, KC5EZS at 7pm. Followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Members introduced themselves for the roll call. There were 11 members present. Reports: Treasurer's report was accepted as given. Secretary's report- An amendment was made to the Vo-Tech antenna, Bill N9SQV volunteered his antenna but it was still on his pole, Walt KA3AMK had his in his hand. Walt's antenna is on the Vo-Tech Building. There was also an omission in Aprils minutes. The volunteers to go to the April CORA meeting were Bill N9SQV and Bill KC5ICR. The April minutes were approved as amended. YL report- No new members. Presidents Message: Chuck KC5EZS spoke about the president of CORA resigning and that Hal KB1ZQ has been selected to fill in. This was also brought up by Don N5ENQ. Club Meeting Net: Dave WD5G started to be net control, but noise on the radio kept him from transmitting, so this will have to be tried again next month. Old business: Vo-Tech Antenna- is up and connected. Item closed. VE Testing- May 24th 6:30 at the EOC Vo-Tech, Oak Room. Volunteers to help will be Bill, N9SQV; Dave, WD5G; and Chuck KC5EZS. Tower status was discussed. Rt. 66- Don N5ENQ has applied for the special call sign. So far there are 10 stations (A thru J). There was a discussion on QSL cards. Field Day- Coordinator- no one volunteered Mike N5WNT will be taking care of the food. An email will be sent out for members to reply so that they will be able to buy enough food for everyone who will be coming for the picnic. A list of operators was needed, email will be sent out for that also. Web Site- The OPR was not at the meeting, so it was not discussed. New Business: CORA- Volunteers for the meeting on May 22nd. Bill N9SQV and Chuck KC5EZS P.O. Box- Price for the Post Office Box is increasing this year. Motion was made and seconded that we keep the box. Approved. Program: Clay Mayrose WA6LBU was our guest speaker. He spoke about the ARES Program. It is important as Ham Operators to be proficient in handling traffic before it is needed. They do have training nets, and the one on 2 meters is 146.82 repeater at 8pm in the Oklahoma City area. He also gave the web sites for ARES.
