Treasurer’s Report: Larry K5VVD reported there was $XXX in the account at the end of January with an addition of donations for the repeater and membership dues minus the expense of the phone bill giving a final tally of $XXX. A motion to accept the minutes from the January meeting was made by Don N5ENQ and seconded by Walt KA3AMK. The motion passed unanimously. OLD BUSINESS: Repeater replacement: Larry K5VVD reported from Ron W5RGT that the new equipment had been shipped. The cost was more than original estimate of $850. Ron W5RGT was reached via phone in order to acquire an actual figure that he gave as $XXX-and-something. Bill K3YC made a motion to authorize the additional amount to give Ron $XXX to complete the transaction. Richard WA5EOD seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. By-Laws Change: A change in By-Law #4 of the Constitution will be implemented as follows: Dues. A regular annual assessment of $XX per person/per year effective at October 1 of each year and/or subsequent joining is hereby assessed in accordance with the provisions of Article V of the Constitution for the purpose of providing funds for expenses. The change in this By-Law passed unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: Saturday Morning Breakfast: A proposal to meet for breakfast tentatively the second Saturday of the month at 8:30am was decided on. The Saturday picked could float as necessary as could the restaurant. The restaurant selected for the initial event was the Silver Spur located in the truck stop at I-40 and Choctaw Road. Field Day 2008: Don N5ENQ tentatively volunteered as Event Coordinator for Field Day. The summit of Mount Scott near Lawton was discussed touching on several advantages for using it as an event site. The dates for Field Day 2008 are June 28/29. Announcements: Dave WD5G gave assorted announcements regarding upcoming hamfests, the poor health of Bill Williams’ wife, and the OKC Marathon website. Tech Meetings: The next Tech Meeting will be March 6. Richard KA5ALO will give a presentation on beacons. Dave WD5G requested a list of topics for Tech Meetings as well as volunteers to give presentations. Bill K3YC expressed an interest in learning about digital modes as MARS is requesting digital capability from its members. Dave suggested practicing with the club’s Yaesu 7800 that has cross-band capability. The idea is to circulate the radio around members from meeting to meeting to get familiar with cross-band repeater operation. There was no other business and the meeting was adjourned.
