Choctaw Amateur Radio Club (CARC) Regular Monthly Meeting was held on August 20, 2001 at the Eastern Oklahoma county Vo-Tech. A quorum was met and business conducted as follows. The Choctaw Amateur Radio Club meeting was called to order by President Chuck Kanach, KC5EZS at 7pm. Followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Members and guests introduced themselves. 16 members, 2 guests. We welcomed our guests Jackie Hazelwood, and Charles O'Dell, KD5NWS. Net control for this meeting was Dave Downing, WD5G. We had one member check in. Reports: Secretary's report- The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as read in the Collector/Emitter. Treasurer's report was given and accepted. He reported 2 new memberships. YL report- A map was shown with the YL's who normally check in. Web report- Work is in progress. Cora Meeting- The meeting was entirely about Ham Holiday. Sick Report- Norm W5FLO report given on his condition by Don N5ENQ, Toby KC5DZJ reported on Bill KC5DZL , and everyone could see that Toby KC5DZJ had a cast on his leg. We were glad to see Les KB5RV back after a long illness. Presidents Message: A QSL card was received from Field Day, and since there is none made up, should some be made up? Discussion followed, with Duane Angles, KA5WRG agreeing to make one up and send it. Also, the Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center, Fall 2001 Class Schedule was shown, on page 18 there is a little box telling that Ham Radio Operators meet in the Oak Room on the third Monday of each month. A schedule of days that the Vo-Tech will be closed was shown. There are two days that will have to have other arrangements made. For January meeting, Spencers was mentioned as a luncheon meeting, and all agreed to leave that up to the next years President. The Swap meet was also brought up, but decided it was too late to reserve the room. The monthly coffee was held and enjoyed by the ones who showed up. Old Business: Tower- In progress VE Testing- Need more VE's for testing. A couple of members will fill out the form and send it in. Rt. 66- Don, N5ENQ reported that the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center is happy to have us back again. It will operate from 9 to 5. Members from other clubs are welcome to participate. Coordination for this event will be done on the 82 machine. More volunteers are needed, please contact Don N5ENQ to let him know when you are available. New Business: Club Meeting Net- Someone was needed to be in charge of getting net controls for the meeting nights. It was agreed that this falls under the Vice Presidents duties. Tech Meeting- Chuck KC5EZS suggested that a second club meeting, which would have some programs, discussions about radios and computers, or even a show and tell time, or work night. No business to be brought up at that time. The meeting will be at the Vo-Tech at 7 pm on the second Thursday of the month. The first one on September 13th. The members were unable to come up with a date for the September luncheon and coffee. So it was cancelled. Christmas Dinner- A committee to find a place for the Christmas dinner was formed. The members are: Mike N5WNT, Duane KA5WRG, Chuck KC5EZS, and Walt KA3AMK. CORA meeting- Members to try to attend- Bill N9SQV, Don N5ENQ, Kevin KD5NRQ, and Chuck KC5EZS as alternate. Fox Hunt- Dave WD5G was asked to plan another GPS hunt and he will either report at the next meeting, or send Chuck an email if it is sooner. Because this was so new, I omitted the net controls. Bill N9SQV was our first net control, and Norm W5FLO was next. Thanks to the net control people, our homebound members can still remain active in our club.
