Choctaw Amateur Radio Club (CARC) Regular Monthly Meeting was held on September 17, 2001 at the Eastern Oklahoma County Vo-Tech. A quorum was met and business conducted as follows. The Choctaw Amateur Radio Club meeting was called to order by President Chuck Kanach. KC5EZS at 7pm. Followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Members and guests introduced themselves. 13 members and 2 guests. We welcomed our guests, Sheila Flori, KE4YJA, and Robert Flori, KC5QWY from the Phoenix area. Net control for this meeting was Bill Crossland, N9SQV. No checkins. Reports: Secretary's report- The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as read in the Collector/Emitter. Treasurer's report- The treasurer's report was given and accepted. YL Net- The YL net was cancelled because of the World Trade Center and Pentagon happenings that morning. Web site report- No report Cora Report- Chuck KC5EZS reported most of the information that was in the C&E . Tower- No report Presidents Comments: Tony WB5PNH (SK) had mentioned to Chuck before he passed away, that we should keep on our mind, to be listening to the repeater and be there for anyone who needs help. A few comments were made of the times lately when help was requested and given. So he suggested that we monitor the repeater better, to honor Tony. Chuck has a web site with some pictures, "So long Tony" http://community.webshots.com/user/kc5ezs. Old Business: VE testing- Dave WD5G signed up, and OJ WB5SRX asked for a sign up sheet. RT 66- It was completed Sunday eve. Don N5ENQ, thinks they had 900 to 1400 contacts. Because of the events Tuesday, no one was there. Special thanks went to Don N5ENQ and Ron WB9DAF for setting up the equipment and antenna for the event. Christmas Committee- The committee came up with two dates and four places, the members voted and Walt KA3AMK, counted the votes and gave us the date and place at the end of the meeting. We will have our Christmas meeting at Golden Corral, December 8th at 12:30. Bring kids and grandkids. Tech discussion group- The room is not available on the date discussed, so the group will be held on the 4th Thursday. At 7pm. Sept 28th will be APRS. Dave and Duane built their tiny tracker into their gps. GPS Fox hunt- Committee formed Dave WD5G and Chuck, KC5EZS will be working on that. New Business: Monthly Coffee- October 6th at Bruces Truck Stop at 9:30 am. CORA meeting- September 22nd at 1pm, Skyline Restaurant. Don N5ENQ, and Kevin KD5NRO, might be able to make it. JOTA- No one showed any interest- Item closed Jim K5TT had some announcements. One was and event on October 6th, banquet in Bristow, the information was in the C&E. Also, VP5 on 6 meters, November 8th through the 30th. OJ WB5SRX is also trying to sell his 20m. Mono band.- 732-1868 Meeting adjourned at 8:25pm.
